Can you make money at wood turning?
I know the industry has been taken over by computerized lathes, is it still possible to make money, enough to pay off a lathe for example by learning how to turn wood?

- you can, although computerized crap is taking place of hand made, there is a growing market for handmade products, surprisingly. A good place to find information would be your local woodworkers store. Ask them what they think. A good place to do this would be period fairs/shows. LIke the craft shows in your area, i.e. apple festival, johnny appleseed days, or shows that are period themed. They often have 'demos' of people handmaking crafts and items, and sometimes they pay for people that do demos, or, you could pay for a booth and sell your items there, maybe making some while you were there. Possibilities are endless. GOOD LUCK
- oh yeah! just talk to alot of antique dealers and make connections there, you could make money with replicas or replacing peices of furniture that has been in someones family for generations, good hand crafted items are harder to sell but still hold more value than cookie cutter items
